Our Annual MCP Group Meeting

with a Night at the Races (MCP Style!)

Friday the 10th February 2023 saw our Annual MCP Group Meeting. Saying that, due to recent events, it hasn’t been quite so annual, so this one was even more welcomed.

These meetings give our shareholders a chance to convene, reflect and review on the business generally. This is then followed by a larger group of the MCP team coming together to provide an update on their divisions’ latest achievements and plans for the future. It also allows individuals a chance to promote the projects they are currently working on and how these are developing.

What we covered

Getting everyone together isn’t just an opportunity to discuss business performance. More importantly, it provides a platform to share ideas, discuss industry changes and the way we want to focus our business moving forward.

In recent months we have recruited new team members and consultants, some of whom already have MCP experience and/or client-side history. The perspective each individual can bring is invaluable, particularly from the client-side, as this means we can better understand what they may require from us and how this can be delivered to support their own organisations.

What we learnt

This annual event also provides a platform for us to learn new essential skill, such as…

Our Senior Technical Trainer, Mark Everson gave us the tools we needed to build our own motor. This little snippet of practical knowledge goes down very well with Mechanical to Electrical Skills course delegates. Our Managing Consultant, Robin Blakey, learnt where he went wrong the last time he tried to build a motor with his son. Who knew it would be all down to the sanding!

Reinhard Korb, from our European partnering companies, learnt the step by step process on how best prepare a cream tea.

And we all learnt that adding humour into anything we do, is always the optimum way to get the best out of people!

100s of years’ experience

On a serious note, looking around the room at the total number of year’s experience our staff have in maintenance consultancy and technical training, the huge range of sectors we have work in and the massive benefits we have brought to our client base, is nothing less than awe inspiring.

Our team has helped our customers in a myriad of ways - from saving money and effective cost reduction, improving efficiencies, multi skilling their technicians, increasing manufacturing performance, training new managers, cleansing data, implementing a whole range of changes that ultimately means our clients can do their jobs better and of course, be more reliable, efficient and productive.

Industry changes

We also looked at how the industry is changing and discussed newer concepts such as asset modelling, utilising technology to improve reliability and much, much more.

Our competitive side

Our partners joined us in the evening and this gave us a chance to relax, reflect on the day and spend some social time altogether. David Curzon (DMC Corporate Consultants Ltd.) did an amazing job putting the whole event together supported by our very own Helen Edge. The venue was superb at the Queen’s Hotel in Cheltenham; faultless service from their staff, delicious food … and who could forget the racing event itself. Bright Vision were our hosts for the evening, providing hints and tips on the horses along the way. Who knew consultants could be such a competitive bunch!

Productive and enjoyable

All in all, it was an extremely productive and enjoyable day and evening. We are all looking forward to implementing our new ideas and concepts before the next time we all get together again.
