Our History

MCP Consulting Group Ltd. has been a leader in physical asset management consulting and technical training for nearly five decades. Here we give a brief synopsis of our history and achievements.

Foundations and Early Growth

1976 - 1990

Founded in 1976, MCP initially offered a broad range of business solutions. In 1987, the company sharpened its focus on maintenance and asset management, leading to the development of the AMIS (Asset Management Improvement Service) Assessment, originally supported by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Throughout the 1990s, MCP expanded its services and global reach. In 1990, Langcet, a technical training organisation based in the South East, was established to provide specialist training to various sectors.

MCP Consulting and Training was established, providing business solutions in a broad range of asset management services.

1987

The business focused its activities on maintenance and asset management, leading to the development of the AMIS (Asset Management Improvement Service) Audit, originally a DTI supported programme.

By 2001, MCP had launched AMIS-MCP International, forming partnerships across the UK, USA, Portugal, Spain, India, Thailand, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Singapore, and the UAE. In 2005, MCP acquired Langcet to become MCP Technical Training and opened training centres in Reading and the West Midlands.

That same year, the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing recognised MCP as a specialist in Engineering and Maintenance. In 2010, the Institute of Asset Management endorsed MCP as one of their trainers and assessors, aligning with the latest Competencies Framework and complementing BSI PAS 55.

2001

MCP established its international operation AMIS-MCP International in 2001. MCP now has partners throughout the UK, USA, Portugal, Spain, India, Thailand, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Singapore and UAE.

MCP acquired Langcet and opened a training centre in Reading.

MCP opened a training centre in the West Midlands.

The National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing awards MCP the accolade of Specialist for Engineering and Maintenance.

The Institute of Asset Management endorse MCP as one of their Trainers and Assessors to deliver a course that clearly maps to the latest Competencies Framework and complement BSI PAS 55.

2012

MCP celebrates 25 years of AMIS Assessments.

2013 – 2019

A major milestone came in 2016 when MCP received the Queen’s Award for International Trade, highlighting the company’s commitment to excellence and global reach.

In 2019, MCP founded SMART Asset Maintenance to provide digital solutions. The following year, MCP Management Training was launched, offering a wide range of face to face and online courses to meet evolving client needs, particularly in response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2013

MCP opens a brand new customised Training Centre in Reading.

A new management team was formed and the buy-out took place. The new business was formed and named MCP Consulting Group Ltd.

2014

MCP was awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade, 2016. Peter Gagg was presented to Her Majesty The Queen at The Queens Award Winners Reception held at Buckingham Palace, London on 14th July.

In 2023, MCP brought their technical training offering to a new venue in Solihull, which quickly reached 90% utilisation, reflecting the strong demand for its services. Technical Training was also provided at this facility, supporting clients across multiple industries.

Due to growing demand, Technical Training relocated in 2024 to larger premises in Reading, ensuring MCP continues to provide high-quality training solutions in an expanded, purpose-built environment.

Today, MCP Consulting Group Ltd. remains committed to supporting clients’ future business objectives, building on a rich history of excellence and innovation in physical asset management consulting and training services.

MCP Technical Training founded.

MCP Management Training founded. A host of online courses was produced to cater for home working requirements for customers following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Technical Training was also provided at our training facility in Solihull, quickly reaching 90% utilisation.
