Kevin Sullivan One Year Later

Focus on Kevin Sullivan | Managing Consultant

Time really does fly here at MCP. We can’t believe it has been a year since our Managing Consultant, Kevin Sullivan joined us. We caught up with Kevin to find out how the last 12 months has progressed for him and what he would most like to see come to fruition in 2023, read on to find out more…

Diverse Experience

Kevin has years of engineering experience behind him before he joined MCP. After completing a 4-year mechanical engineering apprenticeship he has worked in various roles in maintenance, from mechanical fitter through to cluster maintenance manager.  The industries he has worked in include manufacturing, automotive, IT, pharmaceutical, steelworks and ports. To top it all, he also took a degree in computer science!

Kevin has been pivotal in a number of initiatives within the businesses he has worked, including:

  • Continuous improvement

  • Reliability centred maintenance

  • Improving efficiency

  • Removing bottlenecks

  • Designing maintenance strategies to support ISO 55000

Greatest Historic Achievement

When asked what is one of his greatest achievements, he proudly recounted that he and his team took an auto-screwdriver that was failing 95% of the time, redesigned it so it achieved a 97% pass rate. This meant that production exceeded the target of 1,800 units per day by achieving 2,000 instead. They even sold the new design back to the original manufacturer!

Why Join MCP?

Kevin met our consultant Will, over 7 years ago, when MCP were supporting his company with an efficiency improvement programme and the two stayed connected through the years. What finally attracted Kevin to us was the fact that, although we work with some major household names, we are still a relatively small company.  This means that each individual member of staff can actually make a difference to the business, in their own way. He could see that his diverse experience could support MCP customers and in his words “MCP is a gem of a business, and I could see huge potential!”

Supporting Tailored Consulting Services

Kevin has a wealth of experience and MCP provide a huge variety of support to our clients, providing tailored consulting services to suit pretty much any asset maintenance issue. Kevin seamlessly fitted in and has supported us on a number of client projects for both consulting and training, just some of these include:

  • Improving reliability in a gas power station.

  • Visualising a new asset management strategy and a reliability drive for a water company.

  • Efficiency improvements with a dairy producer, improving throughput where 2.8 million litres of milk can be further processed per year.

  • Training IAM certification for candidates at airports.

  • Producing a User Requirement Specification for an airport to help them choose the right Authorisation to Work (ATW) software for their business.

Looking to 2023

Now that Kevin has a years’ experience with us, we asked him what the one thing would be that he would like to achieve in 2023. “If I really did have only one wish it would be to build a new training pathway which can take an apprentice engineer right through to achieving a management position, no matter which area of maintenance they wish to specialise in. Offering a route to achieve their goals, all under one roof with online, blended and face to face training.”

Watch this space for updates on this training pathway…
